Play, Seeking, Speed

Position controls are provided in frame mode or time mode.

The toolbar contains buttons in several groups:

• Playback
• Play / Pause - pause when playing, play when paused, set playing speed to 1 if different.
• Stop - seek to 0 and pause.
• Previous track (in PlayList).
• Next track (in PlayList).
• Precision seeking
• Seek N frames (or N seconds) back/forward.
• Subtitle seeking
• Seek to previous subtitle - find nearest previous subtitle (or a nearest subtitle that starts before the current position) and seek to it's start time. Optional time offset (negative or positive) can be specified in Settings - Player - Seek to next subtitle delay (in seconds and milliseconds).
• Seek to next subtitle - find the nearest  next subtitle
• Speed
• Current speed indicator
• Increase backward playing speed - for example the DVD is being played backwards 8x, so the speed will increase to 12x back (the next step). When the movie is playing forwards, e.g. 2x, the speed is just reversed, so it will then be played 2x backward
• Decrease backward speed - for example the movie is played backwards at 4x speed, after clicking on this button it will be played only 3x backwards (the previous step). When it is playing forwards, the speed will be just reversed.
• Play at 1x speed - set the playing speed to normal, that is 1x forwards.
• Decrease forward playing speed - similar to backward decrease
• Increase forward playing speed - similar to backward increase

Playing speed explained

SP allows the movie to be played at multiple speeds. The exact steps are 0.04, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, either forwards or backwards (with a - sign). If the speed is less than 0, that means the movie is played slower, if it is greater then 1, the movie is played faster. Using the Increase button the speed is increased, using the Decrease button it is decreased.

Examples:

• 4x increase forwards = 6x
• 1x decrease forwards = 0.75
• 8x increase backward = -8x (just flipped)
• -8x increase backward = -12x
• -6x decrease backward = -4x
• -6x increase forward = 6x (just flipped)
• and so on
