Select / Mark menus

Select... - Open Selection menu. After selecting a command from the menu the button gets assigned that command.
Mark... - Open Mark menu. It has the same behavior as the Select... button.

These menus contain exactly the same items as the Select and Mark toolbars and are there just for convenience and greater UI flexibility. They are also accessible via the right-click menu.
